What If?-  Led by Mark Seager

Doctrine.  The word has connotations like “dry-as-dust”, boring, and impractical to many of us.   But the reality is that we act on we believe.   In other words doctrine is the foundation from which our words and action stand on.  So it makes sense that right doctrine leads to right living.

Too many churches bury their statement of beliefs in their literature as though it’s a boring appendix.  But the items defined in our statement of beliefs are too important to ignore.  Our statement of beliefs articulates the basic underpinnings of Bible believing, Jesus-living Christianity.   It’s the “faith that was once for all entrusted to the saints.” (Jude 3)  But chances are if you’ve been around church world a long time familiarity breeds complacency.

But imagine this.  What if we really believed the things we say we believe?  What if we took the time to think through the implications and applications of our Statement of Beliefs?  If we really believed the things we say we believed our lives would be turned upside down!

Join us this summer at Cornerstone…9:30 – 10:10…to discover or rediscover these amazing truths.   We’ll look at the biblical foundation of our statement of beliefs and explore the implications for everyday life.

Identity. What’s the real “you”?  What defines you?  Your skin color?  Your career?  Your marital status?  Your net worth?  Your education?  The things you’ve done which you’re ashamed of?  Your accomplishments?  Which of these really define you? Join our journey through the book of Ephesians this spring.  The sessions will build on each other, but you won’t be lost if you come in the middle of the adventure! Meeting Sunday’s at 9:30 am in the Middle school room.

Putting Feet to Your Faith- Led by Mark Seager

If we’re honest, many of us live like practical atheists. We live our lives and make decisions as though God doesn’t exist. But it doesn’t have to be this way. After looking at the clues in the universe and our own planet, it only takes a reasonable step of faith to believe there is a God. Since God exists, and He made the universe and brought life into existence; He must be important. If He’s that important, how can I live everyday in light of God’s empowering existence?

We’ll address some questions that should help us get on track:

How can I know God?
What is God like? Can I trust Him?
We’re made in God’s image; so what?
What does God expect of me?

Science and The Bible- Led by Mark Seager

How often have you heard, “You can’t take the bible literally since science has discredited it” or, “Scientists say all the evidence favors evolution”? Popular culture portrays science and the Bible as mortal foes when in reality nothing could be further from the truth! Join us as in seeing how objective scientific evidence points toward a Creator and learn how some of the “scientific” criticisms of Scripture are nothing more than urban legends. This course will be four weeks long and you will not need to be a rocket scientist to keep up with the material. The goals of the course are to strengthen your confidence in Scripture and to equip you with answers to honest questions about science and the Bible.
