Nick loves all kinds of card games, travel hacking, and conversations around a fire. He also loves inviting others to experience real freedom found in truth, forgiveness, and faith. His heart is to cultivate “The 3 Loves” love for God, love for others, and love for the lost; and to multiply this desire in others. He believes there’s a generation of young people who are hungry for something more than their current experience, and that they are willing to fight for a deeper sense of community and purpose.
John and his wife Betsy have attended Cedar Run Community Church since 1995, except for their time in Missouri and New Jersey from 2000-2005. They have four children and live in Northern Virginia. John and Betsy enjoy attending life group together and teaching bible studies for boys and girls. Betsy serves as a team captain for the Salt and Light ministry to the homeless, and the family has been active in Cedar Run ministry opportunities in Nicaragua.
Emily grew up in Pennsylvania and moved to Northern Virginia in 2008 after marrying her husband, Scott. Together they started attending Cedar Run Community Church in the spring of 2013. They now attend with their three children. Before having her own children, Emily taught various age levels from high school life skills to elementary age. She has a passion for teaching young children and was excited for the opportunity to be a part of the Children’s ministry team. She loves the sense of community at CRCC and wants all the children to know that Jesus loves them and they have a place they’ll always belong.
Cedar Run has been Katie’s church home since 2005. She and her husband Phil attend now with their 3 young kids. Katie went to Christopher Newport University where she studied Sociology and Leadership Studies, but her dad has been known to say “She was really just majoring in ministry.” Katie has been involved in student ministry as long as she can remember, and she’d be quick to tell you the only thing she’s ever really been good at is telling stories about Jesus. Her passion is facilitating events that make the Word of God come alive in a larger than life way for students. Katie is a lifelong Capitals fan, she is easily recognized by her tutu’s, and people invite her to potlucks for her M&M cookies. But her prayer is to be most well known for loving the Lord above all things. “His name and renown are the desire of [her] heart.” Isaiah 26:3
Sandi and her family started attending Cedar Run in 2010 and quickly felt at home. She and her husband, John Mark, have four children (with a span of 12 years between their oldest and youngest) and often find themselves navigating multiple stages of life at one time. She enjoys taking time to explore photography and learning ways to creatively express herself. Over the years, she has volunteered within the children, youth and women’s ministries. Sandi considers it a great blessing to be given the opportunity to serve alongside the staff at CRCC.
Heather was born and raised in what she believes is the best Virginia (West Virginia). The daughter of a baptist pastor and youngest of four siblings, she grew up always wanting to help, love on and nurture children. In 2005, Heather married her husband, Will, and moved to Chesapeake, VA where they lived for 8 years before moving to Herndon in the summer of 2013. God led their family to Cedar Run in 2015. Heather jumped at the opportunity to answer God’s call to have her serve Him and His children at Cedar Run in the Nursery, Toddler and Preschool ministry in 2017. Heather has spent the majority of her life looking after little ones in various capacities from working in the nursery within her previous churches, to babysitting, to being a full time nanny, and as a mom of two young children. She spent several years working for Family Christian Stores where she was an assistant manager. It is her goal to provide a safe and happy environment where children can begin to learn and grow in their faith.
Michelle was born in Rhode Island, and moved to Northern Virginia in 1989. In 2001 she met Dave and left the area to follow him in his career. They were transferred back to NOVA in 2016, and found a permanent home at Cedar Run in 2017. They are very happy to finally settle down and raise their two children in one place. Michelle loves volunteering in the nursery, with Little Women, and with the Women’s Ministry. In her free time, she enjoys building things and decorating.
